Hello, 2017-2018 School Year!

Hello, 2017-2018 School Year!I’m a little late to greet the new school year since we’re about to start week 4, but better late than never, right? Although there are a lot of new changes, we’ve had a smooth start to the 2017-2018 school year. This is a testament not only to the faculty and staff’s dedication and ability to transition, but also to the students’ adaptability to everything new. We’ve definitely hit the ground running!

Growing & Adjusting

With Prosper’s exponential growth, our schools are bursting at the seams, so it is definitely all hands on deck this year. For example, we had seven sections of Digital Art & Animation last year and now we have ten — that’s at least 75 more students! To accommodate, we added a new member to our Technology Applications team, Mr. Fangman, and he is a “floating teacher.” Normally, a teacher could stay in their classroom during their conference period, but now we go to workrooms so that “floating teachers” like Mr. Fangman can utilize the room. This is just one example of how flexible and efficient the PHS team is and it puts an extra pep in my step to work with such a great team.

Eagle Time

A change that is more noticeable to students this year is the daily 30 minutes towards the end of the day that we call Eagle Time. Students can choose to attend tutorials and get the help they need to be successful in the classroom. They may also study on their own or take a breather in the cafeteria area. Eagle Time is especially helpful to those that can’t come to tutorial before or after school! It’s also great for students who have been absent or need extra time in my computer lab to work on their projects. Click here to see my Eagle Time and tutorial availability.

That’s it for now, but stay tuned for weekly glimpses into my classroom. I especially look forward to sharing what my students have created!
