Goodbye, summer! Hello, new school year!
Although teacher service days don’t officially start until August 10 in Houston, teachers all over the country are already dreaming and planning for the 2015-2016 school year. Why do we end our summer early? We want to be prepared and we are excited for all the possibilities the new school year brings! Plus, one can only watch Netflix for so long, right?
This school year, I will be teaching art for all grades at Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy. This will be a slight departure from last year as this year, more fine arts electives will be offered to all grades which is such great news for our students. I’ll also get to see a lot of familiar faces in my classroom again this year which will be fun to see how they’ve grown and how I can challenge them even more.
I hope this blog will provide a means to communicate to students and parents what’s going on in my classroom and at YWCPA. Get ready to see student work (art and writing), photos, and ways you all can get involved with the arts in Houston! In the meantime, enjoy the rest of your summer!
